Archiliuto after Magno Tieffenbrucker, 13/14 courses
This instrument is now shown in Vienna in the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Originally the mould is made out of 31 yew
ribs and the string length is 67,3 / 142,5 cm.
This lute will have the following features:
- mould with 19 ribs made out of rosewood with boxwood spacers or of yew with maple ( black or nature ) spacers

- Top made out of fine european spruce, having the original design for the rose ( triple ), inlay around the edge
to give a good protection
- The neck is made oud of lime wood which is then furnitured with ebony or other wood on request for a cheeper
version
- The fretboard is made out of ebony
- My string length is 64 / 132 cm. Several times I have made this model with string length of 64/102 cm, very
comftable to play and good while transporting, not so long. In spite the string length is not so long,
the sound has force, is singing and fine.
- For the pegs I use plum wood, a very good wood for this purpose or boxwood
- The mould is varnished with french polishing.
