Raed Khoshaba wurde in Bagdad geboren. Er studierte Laute bei Salem Abdul Karem am Konservatorium von Bagdad, womit er sich die besten Voraussetzungen für seine weitere musikalische Entwicklung schuf. Sein Lehrer gehört zur berühmten Bagdadschule des Lautenspiels, mit der man in der arabischen Welt die Renaissance des Lautenspiels in Verbindung bringt. Er erhielt sein Diplom für Laute und studierte Musikwissenschaft an der Bagdad Universität.
